Chinmaya Mudra

Chinmaya Mudra is the Mudra for security.

Chimayo Mudra means embodiment of knowledge. The mudra directs breath awareness and energy to the base of the body to the seat of the first chakra and deepens our connection to the earth and its qualities of grounding stability and security.

The Mudra promotes a sense of balance and alignment in the body which allows us to inhabit our bodies more fully and comfortably.

The Mudra especially beneficial for:

  • slows the breath, lengthening the exhalation and instilling a sense of serenity which allows us to evaluate and meet survival needs more objectively
  • balancing the first chakra by cultivating a sense of safety and security,
  • supports the health of the skeletal system,
  • supports optimal elimination,
  • reducing blood pressure,
  • reducing stress and anxiety,
  • enhancing a sense of grounding, embodiment and trust.

To Hold the Mudra:

  • curl the fingers of each hand into fist with the thumbs outside
  • touch the tips of the index finger to the tips of the thumb forming a circle
  • rest the hands with the palms down on your thighs or knees
  • relax the shoulders back and down with the spine naturally aligned.
